NAME: Millie Florence
HOW IT STARTED:
Growing up, Millie LOVED coming up with bedtime stories to tell to herself before going to bed. She loved reading and would tell stories to just about anyone who would listen. At the age of 9 years old, Florence decided that she wanted to publish a book and by age 10, she had already been to her first writing conference. It was called the Illinois Young Authors Conference. By age 13, she published her first debut novel, “Honey Butter” and has continued to pursue her career as an author since then.
HOW IT’S GOING:
Today, Millie has written 2 middle grade novels. One called “Lydia Green of Mulberry Glen” published in 2019 at the age of fifteen years old and the other being “Honey Butter ”. Florence has also been featured on many podcasts and websites, including the NPR affiliate WSIU. Florence has also spoken in schools, at book clubs, and taught multiple classes on creative writing for kids.
